CONSULTATION UNDERWAY FOR FORMER SUGAR BEET SITE

6th July 2012

Owners of the former Sugar Beet site in Allscott and developer Northern Trust have begun a consultation regarding the future of the site with a series of meetings with local political representatives.

The team met with constituency MP, Mark Pritchard; representatives from Telford and Wrekin Council and Wrockwardine Parish Council to make introductions and outline the opportunities available for the site.

The meetings form part of early engagement regarding the site and will be followed by a comprehensive public consultation event planned for September.

A spokesperson for Northern Trust said, “These initial meetings have been useful in understanding the needs and concerns of the local community from the political perspective .  We now have a clear steer toward highways and the treatment of Sites of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI). Based on this feedback we plan to work on the proposals to begin addressing these points ahead of wider consultation. We are keen to hear the views of the local community and will host a public consultation in September.  We would encourage residents to log on to our website and register their details for further information.”

A dedicated website for the development www.shawbirchroad.co.uk is available with up to date information regarding the proposals and consultation events.
