NORTHERN TRUST PLEASED WITH BRIXHAM PUBLIC EXHIBITION

19th April 2010

On Friday 16th April Northern Trust Company Limited hosted a public exhibition to present its proposal for the redevelopment of the former Pontins Holiday Centre in Brixham. Residents and key stakeholders were invited to view the proposal with representatives from Northern Trust available to answer any questions.

A Northern Trust spokesperson commented “The public exhibition was very well attended, with over 180 people attending the evening event.  The event was an ideal opportunity not only to present the proposal but also provided us with the opportunity to discuss with residents their views on the scheme and any concerns they may have. We would like to thank those who attended and have contributed throughout the consultation exercise”

The Proposal has evolved through Northern Trust working closely with the local authority, community and key stakeholders to identify a range of deliverable uses for the site which can positively contribute to both the local community and economy.  As a result of this work the majority of the proposed development area is located within the brownfield area, and within the settlement boundary and now includes:

  • up to 231 new homes ranging from 1 and 2 bed apartments to 2, 3, 4 and 5 bed homes which will include a significant number of new affordable homes
  • a 60 bed care home
  • 14 tourist lodges and continuation of the touring caravan use

The new development would be delivered alongside significant ecological and landscape enhancements which will result in over 50% of the overall site being managed to protect and enhance the biodiversity and landscape character of the Berry Head Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.

Northern Trust is now preparing the planning application and hope to submit the proposed plans by the

end of next month.
