PLANNING CONSENT GRANTED FOR DEVELOPMENT NEIGHBOURING FARINGTON LODGE

17th September 2010

Northern Trust has confirmed planning permission has been granted for the development of the vacant land neighbouring Farington Lodge Hotel, following the Secretary of State’s decision not to call in the application. This means South Ribble Borough Council’s decision to grant planning permission is confirmed.

Northern Trust worked closely with South Ribble Borough Council and Lancashire County Council on the planning application which includes 55 family homes in a variety of executive house styles

A spokesperson on behalf of Northern Trust commented “Due to the current shortfall in the supply of housing, Northern Trust understands the importance of delivering new family and affordable homes to the local community. As part of the plans there will also be extensive improvements made to the local park. The Company is therefore delighted that the planning application has been approved. Northern Trust will now look to commence a disposal strategy, and enter into negotiations with prospective house builders with a view to having the new family homes constructed next year and the aim of families moving in before the end of 2011.”

Northern Trust believes the plans will enhance Farington and bring further economic benefit to the area by providing new family homes and wider community benefits.
