TYNEDALE HOSPICE AT HOME EXPANDS WITHIN NORTHERN TRUST PORTFOLIO TO SUPPORT RETAIL GROWTH

9th March 2026

Northern Trust Company Ltd is delighted to announce that Tynedale Hospice at Home has expanded its presence within the Northern Trust portfolio, having taken Unit 1C at Princess Court, Low Prudhoe Industrial Estate as a dedicated Donations and Distribution Centre.

The new unit extends to 2,442 sq ft and is located on the established 26,640 sq ft estate, which comprises two terraces of 12 units and a standalone unit, serving a range of local occupiers. The additional space will enable the charity to enhance the sorting, storage and distribution of donated goods to its retail shops across the region, supporting increased income generation for its vital services.

This expansion builds on Tynedale Hospice at Home’s existing occupation of Unit 1A at Bridge End Industrial Estate, Hexham, where the charity has been based since 2021. The Hexham unit extends to 3,068 sq ft and forms part of the 21,437 sq ft estate, which comprises eight single-storey industrial units arranged across two terraces.

Tynedale Hospice at Home is a local charity offering wraparound, home-based care and support for adults with palliative needs or undergoing treatment for life-limiting conditions, as well as pre- and post-bereavement support for people of all ages across West Northumberland, Tynedale and Ponteland.

Jenny Russell, Head of Income Generation at Tynedale Hospice at Home, commented: “The launch of our Donations and Distribution Centre represents an exciting milestone for our retail team. It plays a vital role in generating the income needed to fund our services, including hospice care at home, patient transport, complementary therapy, dementia support, and bereavement support. We are reliant on the dedication of our volunteers, whose support in sorting, organising, and distributing donations is invaluable and we are always seeking extra volunteers. We look forward to strengthening our partnership with the Prudhoe community and the surrounding areas as we continue this important work.”

Jill Harland, Asset Manager at Northern Trust’s North East office, added: “We are extremely pleased to support Tynedale Hospice at Home with their continued growth across our North East portfolio. The acquisition of Unit 1C at Prudhoe Industrial Estate will provide the charity with a well-located and practical base to support the expansion of its retail operations. It is always particularly rewarding to work with organisations that make such a positive difference within the communities they serve, and we look forward to continuing our relationship with the team as they develop their operations further.”
