SAINSBURY'S SIGNS UP FOR NORTHERN TRUST'S £10 MILLION CARRINGTON CENTRE REDEVELOPMENT

24th September 2014

Northern Trust is delighted to announce that Sainsbury’s has been secured as food retailer for its £10 million Carrington Centre redevelopment.

Sainsbury’s have signed a long term lease which will see them anchor the retail centre from the new 4,000 sq ft convenience store.

A spokesperson from Sainsbury’s commented “Sainsbury’s is delighted to be part of the Carrington Centre at the very heart of the development, and looks forward to opening its doors to customers in the New Year.”

A spokesperson for Northern Trust added “Sainsbury’s have a history spanning over 140 years and are rightly perceived as a high quality retailer. We are delighted to have been able to secure such a leading organisation as partner. We consider Sainsbury’s to be an integral part of the development at the Carrington Centre providing a key service in the central hub of the Village.”

The 13,000 sq ft new retail parade also includes 8 other shops including the post office and pharmacy as well as the library. Only two of the shop units remain available to let and cover 743 sq ft and 1,523 sq ft respectively. Anyone interested should contact Peter E Gilkes & Co on 01257 266999.

Work on the initial phase of the development has commenced and as expected should be completed prior to Christmas to enable our retained tenants to benefit from the seasonal trade. Completion of the final fit out of the new Sainsbury’s will follow in the New Year.

Northern Trust’s spokesperson continued “Work on site is being undertaken by local contractors MJ Fellows and is proceeding as planned. Inevitably there will be a certain degree of disruption during the construction phase; however we have sought to minimise this as much possible and we are certain that the surrounding community will continue to support the local traders during this time.”

The plans at the Carrington Centre also incorporate a housing scheme which is being completed by Bloor Homes and consists of 62 family homes in a range of 3, 4 and 5 bedrooms, including a proportion of affordable. In addition, as part of the overall plans Northern Trust has secured the future of the football pitch on a long term agreement with the Parish Council.
